Sandy Kraokaew Stuvik ready for the Austrian Grand Prix

Thai driver Sandy Kraokaew Stuvik has spent his last few weeks training hard in Italy for his upcoming race at the Red Bull Ring in the town of Spielberg, Austria. All his preparations ensure that he is 100% ready for the mental and physical challenge of driving a GP3 car.

In a normal day of training, Stuvik works out twice a day, one session focusing solely on cardio training which lasts a minimum of two hours, usually on bike through the mountains of Italy. His other training session will focus on the muscle groups needed while he is piloting the 400hp GP3 car. These muscle groups are mainly the neck, arms, and core (abdominals, obliques, and lower back).

Stuvik: “I feel ready for the races. I've worked very hard on the bike these past weeks and look forward to seeing the results. We're looking to make some improvements from the positions we were at the last race weekend and I will be working in the simulator with the team before the race.”

Another key element in a race driver's preparations for the race weekend is simulator training. Together with his team, Status GP, Sandy will complete virtual sessions in a car that is identical to his real GP3 car to ensure that all the references (such as brake points) and even car balance will be as close to reality as possible.

Stuvik: “With the extremely limited practice time we have, it is crucial that we enter free practice with the advantage that the simulator gives us. This way, we don't have to spend the first couple of laps looking for references, instead we can already push to find the limits of the car and circuit. This also helps us in the hunt to find the perfect set-up.”

Stay tuned for Sandy's race at the Austrian Grand Prix 19-21st of June, where he will represent Thailand, and his sponsors; Singha Corporation, The Pizza Company, Dacon Inspection Services, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Royal Automobile Association of Thailand, and the Sports Authority of Thailand.
