Spain's Catalunya Circuit just outside Barcelona is the venue for the final race weekend of the 2011 EuroCup racing season. With warm late summer weather and temperatures around 25 degrees C, the track was very pleasant during Friday's practice sessions, as well for Saturday morning qualifying for race 13.

Sandy Stuvik has made grate improvements in both driving style and working closely with the Interwetten junior team has started honing in on a good race set up for the Formula Renault 2.0 car.

In a hectic and chaotic qualifying session this morning, the Thai driver kept himself in the top 10 fastest drivers and kept improving his times. By lap 4 Sandy was 7th fastest in his group and had just improved his 1st sector time by four tenths of a second, when the session was red flagged. He therefore finsihed in a season best 7th in his group, with a corresponding 15th grid position, the new car set-up clearly suiting the young Thai racer and with his newfound car confidence, he was able to push. Sandy himself was quite satisfied finally being able to qualify in the top 15 group on this very challenging Catalunya Circuit and is optimistic of improving further in the afternoon's penultimate race.
