7 Sep. 2011 - EuroCup Round 6

Next race - Paul Ricard in the south of France

The next race at Paul Ricard takes Sandy back to a circuit he tested on before the seson started. The Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track is owned by Formula One promoter Bernie Ecclestone and is characterised by its long Mistral straight (1.8 km) and elongated track design. The track is also unusual in that it is built on a plateau, and very flat. The length of the full track is around 5.8 km.  The track offers today 167 possible configurations and because of this many Formula One teams use this track for testing.

The track is known for its distinctive black and blue runoff areas known as the Blue Zone, which is used instead of gravel traps of other circuits, the runoff surface consists of a mixture of asphalt and tungsten. Should that not prevent the car from stopping, there is the Red Zone, a more abrasive run off area, which would require a car to return to the pits for a new tyre.

Sandy's previos tests here were mainly driven in rain, but he feels this is a track where he can go well and look forward to again be working with the very professional  Interwetten.com Racing Junior Team, in finding a good set up and race pace for this circuit.

The penultimate round of the 2011 EuroCup series starts with 2 practice sessions on Friday 16 September and one qualifying round and a race each on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 of September, 2011.
